I am an award-winning mathematician, chemist, and Qualified Teacher of Secondary Mathematics (QTS), with more than 20 years of experience supporting students across a wide range of ages and abilities, from secondary education through to college and university level.

I currently serve as Head (Coordinator) of Mathematics at an IB World School, where I teach IB MYP Mathematics and IB Diploma Programme Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA). Alongside my mathematics teaching and leadership responsibilities, I work as a STEM Teacher, delivering practical, inquiry-based learning in engineering, robotics, coding, mathematical modelling, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary science and technology.

My academic background includes degrees in both Mathematics and Chemistry, providing me with a strong interdisciplinary foundation for teaching mathematics and STEM subjects. During my university studies, I was twice recognised with a Best Mathematician Award and received a Merit Award for Scientific and Research Excellence. I am also a Mensa member, hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Secondary Mathematics, and have PVG Scheme membership for working with children.

My teaching philosophy is centred on understanding the individual learner. I begin by identifying each student's existing knowledge, strengths, misconceptions, and areas for development. This allows me to create a structured and personalised learning programme designed around the student's academic goals and learning needs.

I strongly believe that mathematics is most effective when students understand not only how a method works, but also why it works and where it can be applied. Whenever possible, I connect mathematical concepts to real-world situations, science, engineering, technology, and problem-solving. This approach helps students develop mathematical confidence, independent thinking, and a deeper, more lasting understanding of the subject.

My lessons are structured, supportive, challenging, and goal-oriented. I combine clear explanations with carefully designed resources, effective study strategies, extensive examination practice, and past-paper questions. I support students preparing for school examinations, IB MYP and IB Diploma assessments, as well as those studying mathematics at college or university level.

My aim is not simply to help students improve their grades, but to develop the confidence, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and independent learning habits that will support their future academic success.
